What the forms collect

Depending on the form, we ask for your name, email, optional phone number, institution, selected bootcamp city, team details, skills, availability, or a message. Required fields are marked with an asterisk.

Information collected automatically

The website may receive basic technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, and error or security logs. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.

Where submissions go

Form submissions are sent to the Kandy project's Google Firebase Firestore database for the organising team to review and respond to. They include a submission timestamp, form details, and a processing status. Submissions are not displayed publicly on this website.

How your details are used

The organising team uses your submission to handle your application, coordinate bootcamp participation, or answer your question. A local form does not create a NASA Space Apps global account or register you for the hackathon.

How long information is kept

We keep submissions only as long as needed to organise the event, respond to requests, maintain necessary records, and meet legitimate operational or legal requirements. Information that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised where reasonably possible.

Who receives information

Access is limited to authorised members of the Kandy organising team and service providers that host, secure, or operate the website. We do not sell personal information. Google may process data in other countries when providing Firebase or reCAPTCHA services under its own terms and privacy practices.

Cookies and browser storage

The site stores your language and consent choices in local browser storage. We do not use advertising or behavioural analytics cookies. If you allow form protection and reCAPTCHA is enabled, Google may set or read cookies when you submit a form. You can reopen Cookie preferences from the footer at any time.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect submissions. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please avoid sending confidential information that a form does not request.

Your choices and requests

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information connected to your submission. We may need enough information to verify the request and locate the relevant record. You can also change your cookie preference from the footer.

Language preference and external services

Fonts are served locally by this website. Firebase stores form submissions, and Firebase App Check may use reCAPTCHA after you allow form protection. Links to NASA Space Apps and other external websites are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
